Engineered Web Solutions offers many website and application development services. Below is a list with brief explanations of the services we provide. Please contact us with any questions or if you would like to inquire about services not listed.
Website Design
To begin a project we speak with you to get an idea of what you are looking for and review the information, target audience, photos, and other documents you provide. After we agree on a quote, Engineered Web Solutions will work on a few rough front page concepts. We propose these to you and you select the one you want us to run with. The bottom line is this, it is your website. We want to work closely with you to give you a site you are pleased with.
From the front page, the rest of the website flows. Simple text and photo pages or complex applications with databases.
We frequently upload pages to an area where you can view the progress and make comments.
Web Based Applications
We also program custom Web Based Applications that you and your employees have access to, but may or may not be available to the rest of the world. It is a great way to share information, communicate, and track projects with your partners.
Server-side Scripting
Server-side scripting resides on the server where the code is not accessible to the end user. We use PHP for this purpose. The client will only see the HTML part of the code after it is parsed by the server. This allows for security, authentication, and keeps your base code hidden. Since the code runs on the server it also decreases the conflicts with multiple browsers. We utilize PHP scripting on your website where it provides an advantage.
Database Management
Database Management (DBMS) goes hand in hand with server-side scripting. We use MySQL which resides on the server and works very well with PHP. It can be used to store information or data. Databases can be used with websites or applications.
Client-side Scripting
Client-side scripting is passed to the clients browser using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and runs locally. It is composed of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Putting these three together to create flowing interactive websites is called Dynamic HTML or DHTML. We use client-side scripting to give your websites the look and feel that your customers expect.
Hosting
We would like to do all the work for you so you don't have to worry or set up anything. We will set up a hosting account for you, load your site, and manage updates or information changes on your site.
AJAX
Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) is a newer technology. The term itself was only coined in 2005. It is rapidly becoming prevalent and is used by Google and others. AJAX allows areas of a page to be updated with out refreshing the entire page. The look can be more like a desk top application than the standard web form submission that surfers are accustomed to.
